Canoeing on the Serpentine Creek

Our second canoe adventure on some local waters yesterday - a little scary as we had all four of us in one canoe - I was sure we would tip over!  The morning was hosted by the lovely community of Durham Ox and the North Central Catchment Management Authority as apart of Naturally Loddon - heaps of great events, mostly free I highly recommend checking out!

On the creek bank were activities for kiddies including indigenous culture and water bugs! - Afterwards was the luncheon at the local hall - yum - brought back plenty of memories of community shared lunches at the Dingee Hall and Tennis Club.

End of soccer season

Kd played his first year in under 9s soccer - J was the coach of the team.  They had a great year & by the end of it Kd really got into playing as a team!  He is very proud of his participation medal and has been wearing it all weekend!

Harry Potter invaded our home too - and I think I am hooked!

For Book Week Kd decided to dress up as Harry Potter (although we are yet to read a Harry Potter book) - they are just watching Harry Potter at the moment!

We found this link very useful for sorting ourselves out with ideas to source the various costume items and a pattern to make Harry's cloak thingo.

For the design of Harry's owl - Kd came up with this himself and we made it together.  J made the little cage from a beverage box that just happened to be empty after the weekend.

Harry can you PLEASE go and clean your shoes, they are filthy after tree planting.

Birthday Bike - the first ride!

A little girl turn's 5

Oh it is hard when your brother has his birthday two weeks before yours.  But the day did finally arrive and Hj had a very special day.

After a breakfast of pancakes and presents from Mum and Dad the rest of the princesses arrived for a princess party!
While writing this I started feeling a little tired after pancake - at the party my Mum helped out with the activities including the making of all princess accessories - sparkle bottles.  You can see more pictures here at mum's blog.

This was the pinata - see that little hovering pink bit?  Hj and I made this and Hj was the only one who got to have a good swing at it - Kd was very disappointed.  Definitely need more layers of news paper next time!
We were very organised in making sure there were lots of activities for the girls to enjoy - especially craft activities and dancing two of Hj's favourite things.  Kd was our official MC for the day - but they also just loved getting stuck into the barbies!
The cake and a little birthday tantrum!

That evening we had the family around for a meal and ate what was left of the birthday cake.

Happy Birthday HJ

July the month of Bakewell Street birthdays

Kd turned 8 on the 10th of July - and would you believe it this is the day that my memory card decided to pack it in, unfortunately I no images of his BMX party or his cake - a few here of him unwrapping his gifts & a greasy dinner at Pizzia Hut with the fam.
